In the land of sausages, strudel, and Schwarzeneggers, what is the first thing the Jessetters do when they get to Austria? Yup, go whitewater rafting! Before we even arrived at our hotel we had to make a pitstop to play in the water’s of Tyrol – a region with a top notch reputation for many kinds of outdoor adventures.
Our tour group had set us up with a company called Feel Free that specializes in rafting and other water activities. They had pretty good equipment and humorous rafting guides so I definitely would recommend them.
Now I wish I could say we rocked some Class V rapids, but this section of water within the Inn River was a bit tailored to beginners. It was an easy-to-moderate Class III, nothing too crazy. It was still an enjoyable experience though, and gave us some time to check out the AMAZING scenery throughout the area.
We also had the opportunity to jump in the river for some swimming…..that lasted less than a minute though. The water in the river was some of the absolute coldest water the Jessetters have had the enjoyment of swimming in.
Overall, it was a fun and super cool experience in a location that is famous for these types of adventures. I highly advise anyone visiting Austria to put down those delicious, delicious sausages for just a bit and venture out into the countryside for some similar entertainment!
