Just a little warning about this post: I am probably going to be using the word ‘quaint’ quite often as I feel the word was invented to describe this town in the Tyrol region of Austria. We chose to stay in St. Johann due to its close proximity to adventure sport locations, and we ended up discovering the quaintest of towns that offer numerous year-round activities, good food and shopping, and breathtaking views. This is one of my favorite smaller towns that we have visited.
What is the best way to explore such a quaint town? Renting some bikes! It was a great way to get around thanks to the nice trails near our hotel, and you don’t have to worry about parking. We were able to explore a good portion of town in a short amount of time.
In addition to biking around, we took a ski lift up a local mountain to enjoy the view of the valley and mountain range.
The coolest/most odd discovery we made in St. Johann? A concrete toboggan course! It actually makes sense though. What better way to get down a mountain than flying down a concrete track? Oh, and you can race (apparently helmets not necessary)!
There is also no shortage of delicious food in the area – especially if you like sausages and beer!
St. Johann is such a quaint and relaxing place. It is the perfect location to unwind after a day or two of adventure activities. Thanks for the memories!
